Alone,
She floats,
Gazing at the stars.
They left her feeling small,
her raft idling on the smooth surface,
make time seem so still.
Normally life is so quickly paced,
She barely contemplated how small she was,
just a wee thing in the vast universe.
It is only on nights like tonight,
Cooling from the heat of the day,
That the sky is so clear to see.
Beyond,
Like from another place,
A huge picture window to the universe.
Surely what she does,
Never truly matters,
In this vastness.
She ponders this,
As she slowly sends ripples from her raft,
Pulsing forth.
She doesn’t notice,
Of course,
Lost in her head.
The ripples get so large,
Until they start to break,
then they finally fade.
She sits and stares above,
Never realizing that she has already cause change,
Even one so small as she.
